Open Questions
These decisions are flagged for future iteration:
Player equipment-- RESOLVED: No player equipment. Players are a life total only. Units do all fighting. Ace Battle provides the "player fights" fantasy through the Ace unit.Ace death mechanic-- RESOLVED: Bench system. When the Ace takes lethal damage, it goes to the Bench. The player can replay it from the Bench by paying its original cost (no tax). While benched, the player loses their Ace's abilities and a potential blocker.Library depletion penalty-- RESOLVED: Linear +2 life loss. Reshuffling costs 2 life the first time, 4 the second, 6 the third, etc. At 20 starting life, the 4th reshuffle is lethal from full. Pressures without dominating -- winning depends on the player, not the clock.- Fast-turn rules -- mechanics to speed up 4+ player games. Deferred until FFA format design -- 1v1 is the priority.
